B'dote, the place where two waters meet, is the center of Dakota people's spirituality and history.
Well, we cancelled the Bdote field trip a month ago for excessive rain and instead went in freezing temperatures and snow. We had been so lucky to have had years of perfect weather for this trip, so I guess we were due. Despite the cold, students were very curious and engaged at each the sacred Dakota sites that we visited. We expanded on our knowledge at each place by hearing additional facts and stories from the perspective of the Dakota people. We also say two bald eagles which we were told is a sign that Dakota ancestors were watching us and thanking us for honoring their stories. That was an exciting moment for students. Students were also super responsible with their iPads in the snow! It was a great day for learning. Below is a picture taken at Coldwater Spring.
